Evaluation of hemolytic anemia
Testing Algorithm
This reflex test is for a positive direct and/or indirect Coombs result.
A positive direct Coombs result is further investigated using monospecific reagents with anti-IgG and anti-C3b-C3d specificity. The following tests may also be performed as part of a positive result: monospecific direct Coombs, antibody elution, antibody identification, and antibody adsorption.
A positive antibody screen result is further investigated using panel cells, direct antiglobulin testing, elution, adsorption, enzyme treatment, phenotyping the specimen, or other pertinent tests that may be required to perform the antibody identification.
